The actors were organised into pairs and told “This week at the Hair Salon, Anaïs Anaïs has missed her period and might be pregnant to Cisco.” I then rolled camera, and the actors did the rest – one take each pair. This exercise was for scene development. Try to imagine the drama unfolding in different parts of the Hair Salon. For example: Salon bathroom, a Salon work station, the front desk. At first I was reluctant to post the material, as I thought it could prejudice an audiences view of the characters who are still in early stages of development. But the work is so good, and I find it very funny, so why keep it in “the vault” (as Chloe would say)? (Mercedes is now Spanish, and we changed Lolita’s name to Anaïs Anaïs [and sometimes she was referred to as Chanel!!]) WORKSHOPS FOR ACTORS: www.workingthescene.com.au
